The Vietnam Rice Farmer Panel Survey (VRFPS) is a multi-purpose household panel survey that collects socio-economic information from rice-farming households in the Mekong Delta region of southern Vietnam. The survey records detailed data on agricultural production, weather insurance, climate adaptation, awareness of climate change, and related topics. The VRFPS provides a rich data source for researchers and policymakers to analyze how rural farm households are affected by and adapt to extreme weather events.

Key Features of the Dataset:

• Sampling: The survey comprises approximately 3,000 rice-farming households residing in 200 villages across four inland provinces of the Mekong Delta. 
• Multi-Wave Surveys: The VRFPS is a panel survey with three annual waves conducted in 2024, 2025, and 2026. In the first wave, village‑head interviews were also carried out in addition to the household interviews. 
• Detailed Questionnaires: The survey covers a wide range of topics, including agricultural activities and yields, weather insurance, climate adaptation, climate impacts, perceptions and awareness of climate change, income, assets, financial inclusion, migration and remittances, locus of control, and household demographics.

It is planned to make the VRFPS data, along with code and supporting materials, available to researchers via the RWI research data center, FDZ Ruhr, provided that this is permissible under Vietnamese laws and regulations. Currently, we provide a user guide that includes a brief overview of the survey as well as the questionnaires, enabling an understanding of the scope and depth of the collected data.
