MACROECONOMICS AND PUBLIC FINANCE
The research unit "Macroeconomics and Public Finance" brings together RWI research on macroeconomic and public finance issues.
The unit conducts research on business cycle developments, long-term economic developments and structural change, as well as tax and transfer systems.
In terms of policy advice, the area produces economic forecasts for Germany and North Rhine-Westphalia and participates in the joint economic forecast. The area also compiles the monthly RWI/ISL Container Throughput Index and evaluates tax reforms using the RWI income tax microsimulation model.
The research group ‘Micro Structure of Taxes and Transfer Systems’ is part of this competence area. It examines welfare state reforms at the micro and macroeconomic levels.
