CLIMATE IMPACTS AND ADAPTATION

Climate change has significant economic costs, especially in the Global South. Extreme weather events, such as droughts, floods, and storms, are increasingly shaping the livelihoods of farm households. The research group "Climate Impacts and Adaptation" analyzes the impact of extreme weather events on the lives of individuals in the Global South. Another focus of our research is the evaluation of climate adaptation instruments. We examine these questions from an applied microeconomic perspective, using rigorous study designs. Our research mainly builds on new, carefully designed household surveys, which we collect in cooperation with local partners. Completed and ongoing data collections are taking place in Mongolia, Vietnam, the Kyrgyz Republic, Ghana, and Senegal.
