Pilot project to save energy in elderly care
The aim of the planned research project “Pilot project for energy saving in elderly care” is to identify cost-efficient and effective energy-saving potential without compromising the quality of care in the elderly care sector. Intelligent shower heads, which can help people to shower more energy-efficiently by providing real-time information on water consumption, promise high savings potential. While the effectiveness of such behavioral economic interventions, known as “nudges”, has already been scientifically confirmed for energy consumption when showering in private households, the effect in other contexts, particularly in the context of professional practice, is still unknown. Therefore, the planned research project for the elderly care sector aims to investigate whether and to what extent real-time information on the water already consumed influences showering behavior and to what extent this can thus contribute to water and energy savings in elderly care.
