Kathrin Kaestner has been working as a researcher in the research unit "Environment and Resources” at RWI since January 2020. Since February 2026, she has headed the “Heating and Housing” research group, which investigates the social and economic challenges of the heat transition for private households.
She studied economics (B.Sc. 2016) at the University of Münster and at the Nagoya University of Commerce and Business, Japan and economics (M.Sc. 2020) at the University of Cologne. She completed her PhD at the Ruhr-University Bochum in January 2025.
