Creating the Mobility Transition in Germany together - Lessons from the Ruhr Region

The objective of the project is to create a comprehensive understanding of how people get around, why they choose certain modes of transport and what measures can accelerate the switch to climate-friendly modes of transport. In particular, this involves the social acceptance and practicability of specific means of transport. To the end, representative household surveys will be conducted in Germany. A special focus will be placed on the Ruhr region. In addition, city-specific surveys will be conducted in three cities in the Ruhr region (Bochum, Dortmund, Essen). In a large-scale field study, individual mobility behavior will be observed over a period of one year. Both key decision-makers and experts as well as citizens will be involved in the search for concrete improvements in their region through various participation formats.
