Die wirtschaftliche Entwicklung im Inland: Erneuter Aussetzer der wirtschaftlichen Erholung im Winter

The German economy continued to recover from the economic consequences of the Corona crisis during summer. However, the expansion of GDP in the third quarter was weaker than initially expected. For example, despite a very good order situation, production in the manufacturing sector was well below pre-crisis levels. The main reason for this was the worsening supply bottlenecks in industry, which led to a decline in both exports and investment. By contrast, private consumption expanded strongly in the wake of the relaxation of infection control measures.
