Johannes Hollenbach has been working as a researcher in the Health Economics department since April 2021. As of June 2024, he is also a research assistant in the Department of Economics at Paderborn University.

His research areas include applied econometrics, health economics and social genomics. He is particularly interested in how policy interventions can improve health, reduce inequalities and support human capital development.
Johannes graduated from the University of Bayreuth with an M.S. in Economics and a B.A. in International Economics and Development. He worked as a student assistant for the Chair of Development Economics and the Chair of Institutional Economics at the University of Bayreuth and spent a semester abroad at Ajou University in Suwon, Korea.
