Simulationsstudie zur Personalanforderung der Richtlinie zur Qualitätssicherung bei der Versorgung von Früh- und Reifgeborenen

Since 2014 binding nurse staffing guidelines demand certain minimum nurse to patient ratio for neonatal intensive care units. In case of a violation hospitals are no longer allowed to offer neonatal care from 01.01.2020 onwards. This report evaluates the probability of a violation of the relevant criteria on the basis of Monte-Carlo simulations. The results show that the majority of perinatal centers cannot fulfill the current guideline. Only higher staff capacity combined with increased flexibility is effective in excluding a potential violation of the guidelines.
