Fördermittel aus dem Krankenhausstrukturfonds – Anstoß zur dauerhaften Strukturveränderung?
To be prepared for forthcoming challenges in health care provision, the German legislature has set specific incentives with the structure fund (“Strukturfonds”) to promote long″=lasting improvements in the German hospital market. The aim of the fund is to reduce overcapacities via reduction or concentration and to optimize the hospital market structure. This article provides information for the German federal states about funds granted up to December 31st 2018 and their allocation among the different kinds of funding. Furthermore, this article shows to what extend the federal states adapt their public investment expenditures as a result of the structure fund. Based on target and actual figures of the state budget plans, the amount of hospital investment expenditure for the years 2016 onwards is compared with the average funding volumes from 2012 to 2014 and the 2015 volume.
