Empirical Evidence on the Impact of Technological Change on the Labor Market
Dissertation, Wirtschaftswissenschaftliche Fakultät, Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf
The dissertation analyses several aspects of the effects of technological change on workers. In doing so, it answers the following research questions: How do robots affect labour-market transitions in Europe? How does technological progress affect gender gaps in the German labour market? How does exposure to artificial intelligence (AI) affect wages? How do firms adjust their labour demand to increasing skill shortages? The analyses are based on a number of data sets, including European and German worker-level survey data, worker-level administrative data, and online job vacancies. These data are analysed using econometric and natural language processing (NLP) methods.
