On January 1, 2015, a statutory minimum wage was introduced in Germany to protect workers from extremely low wages. In various research projects, we are investigating the labor market effects of the minimum wage. We are particularly interested in the effects of the minimum wage on the overall wage level, compliance with the minimum wage, and the effects on inequality and wage mobility. The results of this research regularly feed into the Minimum Wage Commission's reports to the federal government.
