Stephan Sommer is professor of Economics at Bochum University of Applied Sciences and has been a researcher in the department “Environment and Resources” since 2013.
He completed his studies Management and Economics (Bachelor) and Economics (Master) at the Ruhr-University Bochum and the Colegio Universitario de Estudios Financieros in Madrid. In October 2018 he received his PhD from the Ruhr-University Bochum.
His research interests lie in the field of behavioral economics, applied econometrics and environmental, resource and energy economics. The focus is on instruments to reduce private energy consumption and their social acceptance in the society. In particular, he uses large-scale survey studies.
He has published his research results in numerous peer-reviewed journals such as Nature Energy, Environmental Research Letters, Energy Economics, The Energy Journal and Land Economics.
