Since September 2021, Andreas Löschel has held the Chair for Environmental and Resource Economics and Sustainability at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum and Senior Faculty Member of the Ruhr Graduate School in Economics (RGS Econ).
He has also been the chairman of the Commission of Experts of the German Federal Government on the Monitoring Process "Energy of the Future" since 2011 and was lead author of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change's 5th and 6th Assessment Reports.
His research interests lie in the field of energy economics, the economics of climate change, experimental economic research and economic simulation analysis.
Andreas Löschel has published in leading international journals and has been ranked amoung the 50 most influential economists in Germany several times (FAZ-Ökonomenranking).
He was awarded for outstanding research with the German Economic Prize 2022 by the Joachim-Hertz-Foundation.
