Poverty of Children in Germany and its Impact on Children's Health and Educational Outcomes
Dissertation, Fakultät für Wirtschaftswissenschaft
In this thesis we describe the incidence of relative poverty among children living in Germany and analyze whether poverty has any impact on child outcomes. First, the focus lies on identifying households with a high poverty risk. Second, we analyze the dynamics of spells in and out of poverty. Finally, we focus on the causal impact of living in poverty on several child outcomes, in particular on the health of newborn children and on secondary school track choice.
