The Effect of Linguistic Diversity in the Classroom on Migrant and Native Students’ Performance

The project aim is to analyse the effect of linguistic diversity in the classroom on migrant and native students’ performance. While previous studies mainly focused on the relationship between the share of migrant students per class and educational outcomes, we explicitly take into the account the linguistic heterogeneity of students in a class. The results are expected to provide helpful insights for teachers as well as policy makers with respect to the importance of linguistic heterogeneity, for example to develop corresponding guidelines.
