Ansgar Wübker is Professor of Economics at the Harz University and adjunct Professor of Health Economics and Health Policy at the Ruhr University Bochum. He is also a researcher in the "Health" competence area at the RWI, where he was deputy head until July 2020. Professor Wübker studied economics at University of Münster, where he also received his doctorate in 2008 under Prof. Sauerland. Between 2008 and 2012 he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Witten/Herdecke, where he received his habilitation in 2014. He was then a visiting researcher at the University of Lausanne and deputy professor at the Chair of Competition Theory and Policy at the Ruhr University Bochum. He has been working at RWI since 2014.

In his research, he analyses empirical, economic policy-relevant issues in the field of health economics. His research focuses on the analysis of hospital markets, individual health behaviour, inequalities in health care and the econometric evaluation of policy measures.
