Ana Garcia-Hernandez is a researcher at RWI and a Policy and Research Manager at J-PAL Europe. Ana has served as a principal investigator and co-investigator for several randomised evaluations and other studies on women’s political participation, girls’ access to education and empowerment, and ethics in development research in Uganda, Zambia, and Colombia. She has also been an Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) consultant.

Before this position, Ana was a postdoctoral researcher in a position shared between Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) Colombia and Universidad del Rosario. Ana continued developing her research interests and projects in this position and supported the IPA's office on project development, technical assistance, and research design of randomised evaluations in Colombia.

Ana holds a Ph.D. in Economics from NOVA SBE, an M.Sc. in Specialized Economic Analysis from Barcelona School of Economics, and a B.Sc. in Economics from Carlos III University. Before she started her doctoral studies, she worked for two years as a Senior Research Associate for Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) in Uganda. At IPA, she managed randomised evaluations in governance and gender.
