RESEARCH DATA MANAGEMENT

Here you will find an overview and further information about the FDZ Ruhr's support services for research data management.

Funding guidelines

Funding guidelines

Almost all national and international funding agencies have now issued binding guidelines regarding research data management. Research data generated from public funds should be published with as few restrictions as possible and made available for subsequent use if there are no data protection or copyright reasons to the contrary.

The handling of research data and the recommendation or encouragement for publication in this regard is defined by the funding agencies, which use corresponding funding guidelines as a basis. Thus, it is expected that project applications contain mandatory information on the handling and publication of the collected data. The corresponding requirements can be found in the call for proposals or the general conditions of the respective funding institutions. If you have any questions regarding the requirements of the funding bodies for research data management, please contact the FDZ Ruhr.

Federal funding advice Research and innovation

If you do not yet have any experience with research funding and are planning a research project, you can obtain advice from the Federal Government's Research and Innovation Funding Advisory Service. There you will receive helpful information, e.g. on the appropriate funding offer, process or deadlines of a funding application. The funding advisory service offers quick orientation and saves time-consuming research on application requirements.

Funding database of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection

The federal funding database provides a comprehensive and up-to-date overview of the funding programs of the federal government, the states and the European Union. Within the database, it is possible to search for all funding opportunities on a topic or subject-specific basis. In addition, all information and links to the most important funding organizations of the federal government, the states and the EU are listed. Personal funding advice is not offered.

Funding programs of the European Commission

The database of the European Commission provides information on the different types of EU funding for research and innovation, application procedures, project management, and more. Current and future funding opportunities are also published and potential project partners can be searched for.

SHERPA JULIET database

Sherpa Juliet is a searchable database and one-stop shop for up-to-date information on funding agency policies and requirements for open access, publishing, and data archiving. Sherpa Juliet is part of the SHERPA suite, which includes services related to open access, and is operated by Jisc (formerly the University of Nottingham). Users can suggest updates to funding guidelines or the addition of a new funding body via a form. This service is primarily for researchers who need a concise summary of relevant funding guidelines. Links to the original policies of funding agencies are also provided so that a quick comparison can be made and changes between old and new policies of the same funding agency can be quickly seen.
