RESEARCH DATA MANAGEMENT

Here you will find an overview and further information about the FDZ Ruhr's support services for research data management.

Data publication

To make scientific results comprehensible, it is now good scientific practice to publish published research results with the associated data and processing routines. If the data is protected by copyright or subject to data protection, at least the corresponding metadata should be published. The FDZ Ruhr therefore supports RWI staff and their cooperation partners in publishing their research data. Clear post-use conditions for further use and the assignment of persistent identifiers are essential for publication.

Peristent identifiers

All datasets made available via the FDZ Ruhr, receive a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) for unique and permanent referencing. With the DOI, the referenced object is enriched with metadata that follows the scheme of the registration agency da|ra. When publishing your research results, you can and should use this DOI as a reference. In addition, the DOI serves to uniquely reference your own research data. Should other researchers re-use your data, your research will gain more visibility through a corresponding data citation.

Data provision via the FDZ Ruhr

RWI offers all its researchers the opportunity to make the research data produced at RWI available to the scientific public for subsequent use via the FDZ Ruhr. If you have any questions about the data provision procedure, please contact the FDZ Ruhr.

The inclusion of research data that did not originate at RWI or in cooperation with RWI, is only possible to a limited extent.
