Aufschwung setzt sich bei verhaltener weltwirtschaftlicher Erholung fort

Real GDP in Germany increased by 0.7 percent in the first quarter of 2016. The main drivers of economic expansion were private and public consumption expenditures as well as domestic investments, while external trade dampened the growth of GDP. However, the remarkable increase in GDP was partly due to special effects since the unusually mild weather stimulated production in the construction sector. Accordingly, the growth rate for the second quarter is likely to be lower. Nevertheless the Germany economy will be on the upswing over the forecast horizon. Domestic demand will remain the driving force of economic expansion. We expect real GDP to increase by 1.7 percent this year and by 1.6 percent next year.
