György Barabas attended the RWI in 1991 as researcher. Initially, he focused on the actualizing of the RWI-business cycle model, a structural econometric model for Germany. By this model he made forecasts and evaluated policy measures for the RWI Business Cycle Reports and for the Joint Economic Forecast (Gemeinschaftsdiagnose). Currently he mainly coordinates the National Accounts for the calculations of the department.
György Barabas graduated at the Karl-Marx-University of Economic Sciences in Budapest (today: Corvinus University). There, he received his doctorate summa cum laude in Operations Research. Afterwards, he was a DAAD-fellow and worked at University of Hagen.
