Measuring Sustainable Development: How can Science Contribute to Realizing the SDGs?
The first part of this paper provides general background on the political process and examines debates that have arisen around the Post-2015 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The second part examines issues related to (1) the selection of adequate indicators, (2) an integrated approach to assessment, (3) the identification and management of synergies and trade-offs, and (4) national and local ownership. All contributions will discuss the role of science in contexts such as these.
