Effects of the statutory minimum wage on the wage structure and hours worked - MLK027
In this project, we evaluate the effects of the statutory minimum wage on wages and working hours. Building on projects already completed on behalf of the Geschäfts- und Informationsstelle für den Mindestlohn/BAuA, the current project focuses on the effects of raising the minimum wage to 12 euros in October 2022. The primary analysis data set is the Structure of Earnings Survey (VSE/VE). To validate the methodological approach, analyses based on the German Socio-Economic Panel (SOEP) are also carried out. In addition, the effects of the minimum wage increase on the wage distribution and wage inequality are examined.
