RWI-Obesity: Finanical Incentives on Weight Loss
This data set is based on a randomized experiment that examines whether weight loss and weight loss bonuses are an effective tool for combating obesity. The data set contains information on the medical and socioeconomic characteristics of the patients participating in this experiment. The basis of the experiment are overweight patients from four rehabilitation clinics of the German Pension Insurance in Baden-Württemberg. The patients have a body mass index of more than 30 at the end of their hospital stay a personal weight reduction goal, which they should achieve within four months.
The data set comprises three types of data: (1) data from medical questionnaires completed by healthcare professionals in rehabilitation clinics and pharmacies. (2) Data from four different questionnaires on socio-economic background and health, completed by the study participants themselves. (3) Administrative data generated by the authors to identify the study participants and also contain additional information.
