Corona-Statistiken: Einordung und Verwendung

When evaluating measures to contain the coronavirus pandemic, it is necessary to distinguish between correlation and causality. A simple comparison of the time course of new infections with the time course of the containment measures is insufficient: People adjust their behavior in the crisis, companies adjust their production processes and their costumer contact - even without political guidelines. The effect channels are therefore decisive for a possible easing of the restrictions: Is it the contact bans that made the difference or is it the maintenance of distancing rules that could also be implemented without contact bans? In order to answer this question, empirical studies which provide reliable evidence are needed in the near future.
