Projektion der Wirtschaftsentwicklung bis 2029: Mittelfristig wohl geringe Wachstumsdynamik

Growth prospects for the German economy are likely to remain subdued in the medium term. While in the short-run higher GDP growth is expected to be recorded in the course of an economic recovery and the output gap will close, several factors are dampening the growth potential. Against the backdrop of the ageing society, the population in working age and the total la-bor volume are likely to decrease in the projection period. The recent weakness in investment has slowed down the expansion of the capital stock. At the same time productivity growth has been very weak, and there is the risk, that it will not return to the higher rates observed in earlier years any time soon. All in all, economic growth in Germany is expected to lag behind the growth rates of earlier decades in the projection period.
