Since August 2022, Philipp Hiemann is assistant to the Board of Directors and researcher in the RWI's "Environment and Resources" research division. Since 2026, he is also researcher in the research group "Heating and Housing". He studied Business Administration and Economics at Bielefeld University (BSc, 2017) and Economics at St Catharine's College, University of Cambridge (MPhil, 2019). Before joining the RWI, Mr Hiemann worked for several years as an economist at the consultancy NERA Economic Consulting in Berlin, where his work focussed on topics in energy and transport economics and regulation.
His research interests lie in the areas of energy, transport and resource economics as well as energy regulation.
