SHOCKS AND RISK MANAGEMENT

For many households in the Global South, shocks, be it health-related or economic, pose an obstacle for overcoming poverty. This can lead to a vicious cycle of poverty, shock exposure, economic losses, and underdevelopment. We investigate the effectiveness of policies designed to strengthen the risk management of households, such as health insurance and cash transfer programs. In our rigorous impact evaluations, we employ randomized controlled trials as well as quasi-experimental methods.
