The Senegal Migration Panel

The Senegal Migration Panel (SMP) is a longitudinal panel dataset of households and individuals designed to provide detailed insights into migration patterns, climate perceptions, socioeconomic conditions, and network relations in rural communities in Senegal.
Households and their members in rural areas of Senegal were sampled. Information on these households and all members aged 15 and older were collected through the Census and Network surveys. A subset of households was then selected for the Core-household survey, and within each of these households, one male member aged 18 to 40 was sampled for the Core-individual survey.
The SMP currently comprises four panel waves (as of 2026), collected between 2022 and 2025. The first wave conducted in 2022 is now aviable as Scientific Use File.
The data sets are available free of charge for scientific purposes as a Scientific Use File (SUF) Off-site. For information on data access, please follow this link.
