Projektion der Wirtschaftsentwicklung bis 2026: Mittelfristig nur verhaltene Ausweitung der Wirtschaftsleistung

While the Covid-19 pandemic continues to affect economic development in the short term, structural factors, which determine the potential output of the German economy and its growth potential in the future, will return to the foreground in the medium term. Against the backdrop of the economic recovery from the crisis growth rates will be relatively high initially. However, the economic upswing will be dampened, for example by the effects of the sharply increased prices, in particular for energy. In the medium term, GDP growth will likely be considerably lower, not least due to the demographic change, which is expected to have a negative impact on the potential labor volume in the projection period. At the same time, the transition to a production with lower emissions and the related need for investment and new technologies constitute a major challenge for the economy.
