Die Lage am Stahlmarkt: Deutsche Stahlindustrie weiterhin gut ausgelastet – weltweite Überkapazitäten drücken Preise

Globally, the production of crude steel declined during the first half of 2015. Main reason was reduced production in China due to weaker economic growth and a restructuring of the economy in favor of consumption goods and services. Despite of an upswing of the international economy global steel production will decline in this year for the first time after the 2008/09 recession and it will show a modest growth only in 2016. Thus capacity utilization will remain low. In Germany, on the contrary, capacity utilization is quite higher and production is more or less stable for four years now. The current upswing of the German economy, however, is supported by private consumption and therefore little steel intensive. Therefore, a modest increase of crude steel production by 2.1% can be expected in 2016 after a slight decline by 0.6% in this year. The global overcapacities remain challenging since the put heavy pressure on steel prices.
