Präferenzen und Einstellungen zu vieldiskutierten verkehrspolitischen Maßnahmen: Ergebnisse der dritten Welle des RWI Klima-Mobilitäts-Panels aus dem Jahr 2022

This study examines public support for various transport policy measures in Germany using data from the third wave of the RWI Climate-Mobility Panel, which surveyed over 6,000 participants in 2022. Overall, “pull” measures—those that provide incentives for climate-friendly transport—continue to receive more support than “push” measures that discourage car use. More than 70 % of respondents favor expanding bicycle lanes and introducing free public transport, while policies such as a general car toll, city tolls, and higher parking fees in city centers face opposition. However, some “push” measures, including a tax on kerosene and a highway speed limit of 130 km/h, receive strong approval. Although the COVID-19 pandemic significantly impacted mobility behavior, a comparison with previous survey waves shows that support for most measures has remained relatively stable over time. Notable exceptions include increased backing for a domestic flight ban and a 130 km/h speed limit on highways, which rose by up to 12 percentage points between 2019 and 2022.
