Die Grand Challenges der Energiewende

Sechs Jahre Energiewendeforschung: Bilanz und Perspektiven

Over the past six years, the Copernicus Ariadne project has had a decisive influence on the discourse surrounding the energy transition and the pathways to climate neutrality at the German and European levels. This report looks back on six eventful years of energy transition research within the project and, at the same time, presents the “Grand Challenges of the Energy Transition”: Nine core challenges that still need to be addressed to achieve climate neutrality and that the project has identified based on its research. The report provides an overview of the research conducted within the individual work packages of the Copernicus Ariadne Project and highlights the questions that guided the work packages at the start of the project and how these questions evolved over the course of the project. It also highlights the key findings developed across the various thematic strands and how Ariadne has helped shape the discourse on the energy transition. Finally, the report identifies further research needs derived from the results and distills them into the Grand Challenges of the Energy Transition.
