Climate Change, Population Dynamics, and Migration: A Systematic Review of Overlooked Interactions
This project looks at the role of population dynamics in shaping
climate-induced migration patterns, an aspect often overlooked empirical work.
While research has linked climate change to migration through specific weather
shocks, demographic factors such as population growth, density, and aging may
also play a crucial role in driving migration flows. Despite several systematic
reviews and meta-analyses on climate change and migration, none have
specifically assessed the impact of population dynamics. This study addresses
this gap by systematically reviewing literature from two perspectives: climate
change and migration, and population dynamics and migration. By doing so, it
aims to provide a more comprehensive understanding of how demographic factors
interact with environmental changes to influence migration patterns.
