CLIMATE CHANGE ADAPTATION
Assisting rural farm households in the Global South in adapting to climate change is a pressing societal challenge. Without effective adaptation, extreme weather events can destroy agricultural livelihoods, leading to forced migration and rising poverty. Our research evaluates the effectiveness of selected climate adaptation instruments. Weather insurance for smallholder farm households and humanitarian aid delivered in the context of extreme weather events are a particular focus of our research. Our empirical analyses use rigorous study designs, such as randomized controlled trials and quasi-experimental methods, that allow the identification of causal effects.
