Forschungs- und Innovationspolitik stärken
What was already foreshadowed last year with Donald Trump's election success has intensified in recent days: The ‘transatlantic West’ appears to be disintegrating. In conjunction with years of increasing deglobalisation and geopolitical bloc formation, Germany and Europe must develop and expand their own strengths in order to act as equals in the competition between the power blocs of the USA, China and Russia. The key prerequisite for this is economic strength, but economic development is worrying. For years, Germany has lagged well behind the leading industrialised nations and the majority of EU countries in terms of growth momentum. Gross investments have been declining since 2023, and many companies are planning further cutbacks or shifting investments abroad. In addition, the declining export volume also raises the question of the competitiveness of German products and technologies. As if that were not enough, the number of company closures is also continuing to rise. Even research-intensive sectors are affected by this.
