Leibniz Lab Pandemic Preparedness: One Health, One Future. Development of guidelines for pandemic-resilient urban areas and national health systems and identification of resilience strengthening and weakening factors in international comparison

Pandemic resilience of urban areas and national health systems are interdependent. In order to generate actionable knowledge on the role of urban development in preventing and combating a pandemic, a knowledge synthesis of existing literature on healthy living conditions, spatial risk management and determinants of airborne transmission of respiratory pathogens in closed and open spaces will be conducted. Due to the close interplay between the pandemic resilience of urban spaces and the resilience of healthcare systems, the serious systemic deficits in the German healthcare system revealed by the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic are then analyzed.
