Ensuring adequate long-term care is a major challenge of society. We investigate the development of both the quality of care and the financial stability of care facilities. Our research focuses on the growing shortage of skilled labor and how digital and green transformations are reshaping requirements in the nursing profession. A key focus is on environmental sustainability: through projects such as sustain2care.ruhr, we use field experiments to evaluate how care facilities can improve their environmental footprint and adapt to changing climate conditions. Additionally, we examine the impact of family caregiving on the labor force participation and health of relatives.
