Analysis of research and innovation policy – support for the work on the respective annual report of the Commission of Experts for Research and Innovation (Expertenkommission Forschung und Innovation - EFI)
Since 2008, the Commission of Experts for Research and Innovation (Expertenkommission Forschung und Innovation, EFI) has been the official scientific advisory body to the German Federal Government. Its central mandate is to assess the state of Germany’s research, innovation, and technological performance on an annual basis, to identify strengths and weaknesses, and make evidence-based recommendations for policy. To this end, the EFI submits an annual report to the federal government.
In April 2024, the President of RWI, Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Christoph M. Schmidt, was appointed a member of EFI. In this capacity, he contributes his expertise in economic policy and applied econometrics, as well as his many years of experience in evidence-based policy advice.
