Energy Usage and Socio-economic Conditions in Mozambique - Evidence from GTZ Electrification Project Regions

In various studies RWI analyzes the impacts on poverty of German development cooperation in the energy sector. The present report describes both energy usage and socio-economic conditions within two regions of Mozambique, in which electrification measures are conducted by the German Technical Cooperation (GTZ), a grid densification and a piko hydro project. Based on the data collected within this baseline study the impacts of the measures can be assessed using modern evaluation methods. Electricity supply of the population in developing countries is regarded as an important factor for the attainment of the Millennium Development Goals for poverty reduction, whose attainment is targeted by the United Nations for 2015.
