CReAM/RWI Migration Workshop

From Essen Hbf (main station), you can reach #hotelfriends by taking the tram 107 to “Abzweig Katernberg Schleife”, exiting at stop “Abzweig Katernberg” (travel time: 16 minutes) and walking less than 10 minutes. Please see the google map here for details.

The city of Essen is close to several different airports (Düsseldorf (DUS), Cologne (CGN), Dortmund (DTM), Frankfurt (FRA)) and easily accessible via train and car from elsewhere in Europe.

By plane:

From Düsseldorf (DUS, closest airport):

Düsseldorf international airport has excellent international connections to both European and international destinations. The city of Essen is easily accessible via public transport in about 20 minutes. At Düsseldorf airport, take the SkyTrain to Düsseldorf Flughafen Bahnhof where you find regular connections to Essen Hbf via local trains (RE1, RE2, RE6 or S1).

From Cologne Bonn airport (CGN):

Cologne Bonn airport is an international airport with frequent flights to all over the world. From the airport, you will reach Essen Hbf in about 1h and 15 minutes by train (via Köln Hbf (Cologne main station) or Köln Messe/Deutz (Cologne trade fair)).

From Dortmund airport (DTM):

Dortmund airport has destinations throughout Europe. From the airport, it takes approximately 1h 30 minutes to Essen Hbf (via bus “BusAirEx” to Dortmund Hbf and local trains to Essen Hbf).

From Frankfurt Airport (FRA):

Frankfurt Airport is the largest airport in Germany and is connected to all over the world. The train ride to Essen Hbf via ICE or IC will take you approximately 1h 55 minutes.

By train:

Essen Hbf is very well connected by ICE, Eurocity, and Interregio trains with German, Belgian as well as Dutch cities. See website of Deutsche Bahn for connections.

By car:

To reach Essen by car, use motorway A3, A40, A42 or A52. For workshop participants, there is free parking space in front of the hotel.
