She studied Political Economy at Ruprecht-Karls-University Heidelberg (BA 2010) and Development Economics at Georg-August-University Göttingen and Stellenbosch University, South Africa (MA 2014). In July 2019, she received her PhD from Ruhr-University Bochum.
Her research interests lie in the field of migration and education economics with a focus on the integration of immigrant children into the educational system and on the societal impact of refugee migration in receiving countries.
Lisa Höckel is a Research Affiliate of the IZA. Her research has been published in renowned international journals such as the Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, World Bank Economic Review, and Journal of Comparative Economics.
