Katja Fels has been head of the Communications Department at RWI since May 2018. Beforehand, from July 2014 to April 2018, she worked as an communications officer RWI. Concurrently, since July 2014, Katja has been a researcher in the research group "Sustainability and Governance".

Katja studied journalism with a focus on Economics at the universities of Dortmund and Bochum (Diplom 2009). Additionally, she completed a postgraduate study programme in Economic Policy at the Australian National University (ANU), Canberra, in 2008. In her dissertation at the University of Bochum (2021), she explores the chances and risks of nudging for evidence-based policy design. To this end, she conducted several large randomized field experiments with external cooperation partners and qualitative interview studies.

Katja is a trained editor (Volontariat) and has worked as a journalist for several different media, among them Süddeutsche Zeitung, ZDF and dpa.
