DEFORESTATION AND LAND USE

Agriculture is the most important source of income in Africa. At the same time, low agricultural productivity and the extraction of firewood and charcoal lead to the expansion of cultivated areas and deforestation, with adverse effects both for the local environment and the global climate. In this context, we study the role of energy access in land use change, but also the impacts of infrastructure and other public services on agricultural productivity.
